Okawville's Heritage from Then to Now - 

Celebrating 75 Years

Let's come together and celebrate our fondest memories of the Okawville Wheat Festival!

Themed float ideas may include special memories of events, places, and people of the past 75 years of the Wheat Festival.

Parade Registration

Entry Details

Anyone wanting to enter the parade must complete an online form. Click the button to open the registration form.

Everyone is invited to enter, including...

  • Themed floats (competition)

  • Floats (non-competition)

  • Cars, trucks, side-by-sides, etc. (no semi-trucks) for commercial and non-commercial purposes

  • Business advertisement

  • Politician campaigns

  • Tractors

Horse riders, please contact Sue Lehde (618-424-7735) to register for the parade.

Entry Rules

  • Throwing anything from vehicles or floats is strictly prohibited. 

  • You may walk and pass out candy and other items.

  • No abusive language or rude behavior will be tolerated.

  • No alcohol may be consumed during the parade or on the parade route.

  • No semi-trucks allowed on the parade route. 

  • Have fun and enjoy the crowd!

 

Parade Day Schedule

  • Please line up between 11:30 am - 12:00 pm.

  • Front St closes at 1:30 pm.

  • To find your place in the line up, please find parade staff near the banks in town.

  • Parade starts at 2 pm.

2023 Kiddie Parade

Saturday, September 16th, 2023 @ 11:00 am

Blast from the Past

The Wheat Festival committee is reviving the Kiddie Parade this year! All children are welcome to participate. No registration required.

Grab something with wheels such as a bike, scooter, wagon, stroller, skateboard, or roller skates. You can even walk! Get creative with decorations and costumes or keep it simple - the choice is yours. Children that participate will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone at the 4-H stand in the park.

Entry Rules

  • Please no electric or gas powered vehicles.

  • Children must be in 8th grade or younger.

  • Parents of small children should accompany them.

  • Smiles are encouraged!
     

Kiddie Parade Day Schedule

  • Please line up at Streuters Auto Care in the parking area starting at 10:30 am.

  • Parade starts at 11 am.

  • The parade route will go south down Front St to the south entrance of the park.
